VOLUNTEERS FOR PROJECT HOMELESS NEEDE

Full Description:

This week, cities all across the country will join forces for the National Project Homeless Connect Week. All interested volunteers will join with nonprofits, corporations, government agencies, faith-based organizations and homeless service providers for a one-day, one-stop shop to offer a variety of services to people experiencing homelessness, connect ing them with benefits, medical care, employment opportunities, substance abuse and mental health counseling, social services, food, housing and shelter.

The city is calling out to nyone over 18 who wants to make a difference to help with serving food, greeting guests, handing out hygiene bags, helping with registration, and assisting with set-up and breakdown. Volunteers will receive a t-shirt and breakfast or lunch.

Volunteers will be needed on December 8 from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Shifts are available from 8 a.m. – 12 p.m. and 12 p.m. – 4 p.m. Orientation will be provided to all volunteers.

The event will take place at the City of Orlando Downtown Recreation Center, 649 W Livingston Street.
